THE GERMAN CHRISTMAS PYRAMID

Yesterday I went to Fredericksburg in the cold and rain to check on my bed and breakfasts. Passing the Marktplatz on the way into town I was thrilled to see that Fredericksburg, TX has just become the proud owner of the largest German Christmas pyramid in the United States. The traditional German Christmas symbol was built in Germany and was assembled locally by German craftsman.
The Christmas pyramid is a kind of carousel with several levels some depicting Christian motifs, such as angels or manger scenes, and others with more secular motifs such as mountain-folk, forests, and other scenes from the everyday life of people in the Erzgebirge.
This is not to be missed! And while you are there you might consider a stay at The Cook's Cottage and Suites - www.bed-inn-breakfast-tx.com. Fredericksburg has so many wonderful possibilities at Christmas time. The Holiday Home Tour and a Candlelight Tour of the Pioneer Museum Grounds.
It is like a step back in time when things were just a bit simpler and focused on the true meaning of Christmas.

  1. I was just up there Saturday and did not see this. Wasn't really looking though. Well, just another reason to go back up there before the month is over.
